Do you think your CV’s letting you down? Are you struggling to shine in job interviews? Want to know the best way to impress?

Whether you’re looking for work, or just looking to get on in your career then learning something new could be the perfect way to improve your job prospects. Finding the time to learn new skills while you’re still in work or looking for work can be difficult though. That’s why more and more people are turning to their smartphones to help them whenever they have a few spare minutes.

Smartphone apps can help you with a wide range of day to day things but did you know that they can help you to learn new skills for the workplace too? If you’re looking to improve your assertiveness, interview skills, presentation skills or time management – there really is an app for that.

An online study by YouGov in 2010 found that a third (33%) of British adults have a smartphone. As more and more people have access to information on the move, it makes sense that people use this to their advantage by installing apps to help improve their skills.

David Kirtlan, Education Consultant of Semperior Education said that the increased use of smartphones can help learners to “gain the traditional knowledge of the world around them through an engaging process, rather than by simply listening to a teacher.” He added that "No longer does learning need to take place within the confines of the four walls of a classroom, or even between the hours of 9am and 3pm, students can learn at any time, and in any situation, and mobile learning is a key way of unlocking this potential,"

So if you’re waiting for a train or bus to come along, or you just have a few minutes free in your lunch break, learning on your smartphone could be the easiest way to brush up on your skills throughout the working day.
