Thousands queue for shopping centre jobs

The commitment of unemployed people to looking for work was shown again on Wednesday when over 4,000 queued up for jobs at a new shopping centre.

The Whitely Shopping Centre in Hampshire is opening in April, and a recruitment fair at the Solent Hotel attracted the crowd, with 2,300 pre-registering.

The Hotel was so chock-a-block with jobseekers that organisers had to implement a 'one-in-one-out' policy, leaving hundreds outside in record low March temperatures.

The mall will have 56 shops, the biggest being a Harvester with 45 vacancies.
