UnemployedNet's latest article, Unemployment falls by 24,000 but wages down again, has been quoted extensively in today's Guardian Society Online.

It makes the point that, although the fall in headline unemployment is to be welcomed, falling wages and increasing sanctions mean there is little to celebrate for workless people.

UnemployedNet's comments suggest that sanctions may be behind the fact that there was a higher number of people leaving workless benefits than leaving unemployment, and this is likely to be creating poverty not opportunity.
